As Ottawa and the rest of the world continue to respond to the pandemic, the City of Ottawa and Ottawa Public Health are looking to learn more about your ideas and understanding of COVID-19 recommendations. This phase of engagement will focus on COVID-19 vaccines in Ottawa. We want to know what you think about the arrival of COVID-19 vaccines in Ottawa. What are your reasons for getting vaccinated or not? Who do you talk to about vaccines? What are the benefits and challenges for you and your family when it comes to a COVID-19 vaccine?

Background

Ottawa Public Health has a new COVID-19 Vaccine page at OttawaPublicHealth.ca/COVID19Vaccine which has information on the situation in Ottawa, how the vaccines work and considerations for residents. The City of Ottawa's COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Task Force continues work on a plan for vaccine distribution in Ottawa: https://ottawa.ca/en/covid-19-vaccine-distribution-faqs.

It will take many months before large amounts of the population are vaccinated. It is important that Ottawans continue to do what works to reduce the spread of the virus: maintain a two-metre distance from others outside their own household, wear a mask, stay home when sick and wash their hands. In Ottawa, a large amount of spread is happening in private social gatherings such as parties and large family get-togethers. Limiting close contacts is very important in reducing the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

During the previous phases of COVID-19 engagement, we asked you about:

- the changes you have made to protect yourself and your loved ones from COVID-19,
- how easy it has been for you to receive and understand information from different levels of government,
- what kinds of supports you have accessed and
- your ideas on how to maintain physical distancing into the future

As the pandemic continued, we asked for your thoughts on restrictions in the City of Ottawa, your needs for City and Public Health programs and services, ideas on how to continue to support local businesses, safer social and recreational activities, and much more. The full reports for phases 1-4 of the COVID-19 engagement are available here.

Please check back regularly as we will update this page to seek ongoing feedback as we continue to navigate next steps.
