Notice of Open House - September 24, 2025

In-Person with presentation at 7pm

• Wednesday, September 24, 2025, 6:30 to 8:30 pm

• Blessed Sacrament Parish, 194 Fourth Avenue, Ottawa, K1S 2L6

The City of Ottawa will host an open house for the Bank Street Active Transportation and Transit Priority Feasibility Study. The study is investigating the feasibility of improving transit reliability and travel times and conditions for walking and cycling on Bank Street (Highway 417 to the Canal Bridge). The public open house will include a presentation at 7pm to present the proposed street design. The study team will be available to answer questions.

The presentation will be posted on the project website following the meeting. Please provide your feedback in-person at the open house or by contacting the project manager.

Accessibility is an important consideration for the City of Ottawa. If you require special accommodations, please contact the project manager in advance.

The study team is conducting additional analysis to support the study along with work to respond to a recent motion approved at Council on May 28th. The next Public Open House is now expected to take place in September, with a report to Public Works and Infrastructure Committee and Council to follow.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond to the Bank Street Active Transportation and Transit Priority Feasibility Study survey. We are pleased to share the “As We Heard it”, which summarizes the feedback received through the survey. Access the file in the documents section on the right side of this page.

The study team is continuing to analyze the options. A second public information session is planned to present the preliminary preferred design in winter 2025.

We will continue to post updates as the project progresses.


Online Public Open House, June 12 2024

An Online Public Open House was held on June 12, 2024 at 6:30 pm focusing on existing conditions, shortlisted options and evaluation considerations. This provided an opportunity to learn more about the study and take part in a question-and-answer session.


Bank Street Active Transportation and Transit Priority Feasibility Study

The City of Ottawa has initiated the Bank Street Active Transportation and Transit Priority Feasibility Study, between Highway 417 and the Rideau Canal.

The Official Plan designates Bank Street as a Mainstreet and Transit Priority Corridor, an Arterial Road and a Design Priority Area.

The study will:

  • Examine options to improve transit service efficiency and reliability along the corridor;
  • Investigate opportunities to improve the travel environment for active transportation modes;
  • Undertake an assessment of impacts and trade-offs;
  • Identify a potential pilot project for early implementation;
  • Identify costs for potential implementation; and
  • Consult with the general public and stakeholders.

    The City of Ottawa has initiated an active transportation and transit priority feasibility study for Bank Street between Highway 417 and the Rideau Canal.   The objective of this study is to evaluate options to improve conditions for transit, walking and cycling. However, the space along Bank Street is limited, and trade-offs will be necessary. The purpose of this survey is to obtain your feedback on the potential options for Bank Street.
