Defund police and re-fund social programs

I agree with sentiments already shared on defunding the police. We need to reduce (not maintain) the Police Services Budget. More police does not equal less crime. Police are a reactive, and not a proactive solution to crime. Police disproportional harm minority and socioeconomically disadvantaged communities. This money would be better spent on social programs such as quality affordable housing, shelters, harm-reduction addictions programs and supporting food banks.
