The intersection of Canon Smith Drive (north-south) and Fitzroy Street (east-west) is an unsignalized rural skewed intersection with stop control on the Fitzroy Street approaches (eastbound at Canon Smith Drive and westbound at the curve from Canon Smith Drive).
In 2020, the City of Ottawa commissioned a Safety Study of Ottawa Rural Skewed Intersections, which recommended safety improvements at the intersection of Canon Smith Drive and Fitzroy Street. The City of Ottawa has initiated this Functional Design Study to evaluate design options for safety improvements at the intersection.
