Proactive not Reactive

We can ensure the safety and wellbeing of our community by proactively supporting the residents of our city by investing in and establishing resources for mental health, after-school programs for youth and teens, employment and job training and to stop over-policing marginalized neighbourhoods. Defunding the police and redirecting that money into programs that can actually benefit the community.

OPS should not be the first choice for wellness checks and other non-violent calls for assistance.

Lowertown, Vanier, Overbrook, Bayshore, Ottawa South are over-policed people in these communities are profiled by the OPS and have been since the 80's when I was growing up with police profiling by monitoring and questioning children unnecessarily and incessantly.

Providing viable options for those in the neighbourhoods to ensure change the narrative and assumption that everyone who lives in those communities is potential criminals. Defunding the police and redirecting funds to benefit all residents of the city vs militarizing police to "protect" those they deem worthy.
