Militarized Police Does Not Encourage Safety

Our police are armed with deadly weapons and do not have a visual presence of enforcing safety and de-escelation, in fact quite the opposite. Armed, militarized social service works should not be dealing with wellness checks, domestic disputes etc. They will only enforce violence and escalate. Instead, unarmed soical workers who are specifically trained in domestic issues and de-escelation should be dealing with this. I have never felt a presence of safety when around police, I've only ever felt anxiety, this should not be the case for workers that are there to keep us safe which we pay for in our taxes. We had two designated officers at our high school and all they did was create a fearful environment and escalate violent situations due to the nature of the armed, militarized police. Please disarm and defund the police and redistribute the funds to alternate social safety workers who are not militarized and are trained in anti violence and de-escelation. Not weapons and fighting.
