Defund the Police

We need a concrete reallocation of funding from policing budgets to community-led care-based programming. This includes creating new initiatives rather than reverting to alternate institutions (ex. social workers) who also embody systemic racism and white supremacy and if unfit to deal with a particular situation are meant to then escalate by calling the police. This practice needs to end completely.

Racialized communities are significantly in more danger when police are present! To ensure the safety and well-being of oppressed and repressed communities we are in need of significant structural changes that begin with taking away funding and responsibilities from police services. This includes wellness checks and other forms of mental health support, IPV and/or GBV and other trauma-based needs.
