COVID 19 Assessment Centers
I’ve been hearing a lot in the news lately about how we need to increase our testing. Premier Ford is urging people to go for testing and says we cannot move to phase 2 unless we succeed in this area.
I went to the Bells Corners assessment center three days ago when it was 30 degrees outside, and found a long line-up of people outside in the heat. Some elderly were sitting down on their walkers while the others had no seats.
I returned this morning before the center opened and found another line up- again people who are sick being forced to line up with no seat. (I believe there were only 3 or 4 seats at the beginning of the lineup).
If the Premier would like to bump up testing, why don’t we increase the hours of operation and the capacity of the assessment centers? They all close at 3:30pm!
And perhaps there could be a live feed about wait times so that people could go when waiting times are shorter. Appletree Medical center does this to improve efficiency at their clinic.
Finally, why don’t we provide shelter and seats for those who come and have to wait for testing in this heat?
Thank you for providing this forum for feedback.
