City Council Enacts New Zoning By-law 2026-50

The new Zoning By-law was approved by Ottawa City Council on January 28, 2026 and enacted on March 11, 2026. As of March 11, all development applications and building permit applications must comply with the provisions in Zoning By-law 2008‑250 and the new Zoning By-law 2026‑50, with the most restrictive provisions from both by-laws applying.

Following the enactment on March 11, 2026, the notice of passing will be issued within 10 to 14 days. The 20-day appeal period for Zoning By-law 2026-50 begins on the date of the notice of passing. The appeal period is expected to end in mid-April 2026. Appeals must be filed within the 20-day appeal period.
