Stitt Street Park Playground Renewal
Stitt Street Park, located in Ward 6, is a neighbourhood parkette that offers play features to local residents and ties into the local pathway network. The existing wooden structure in the park has exceeded its functional lifespan and provides minimal play value to non-able-bodied individuals. The intent of the project is to replace this feature and the existing swing set with modern equivalents that offer play value for all.
You can view and compare the proposed playground designs by downloading the options in the Document Library (on the right-hand panel). We invite you to let us know which option you prefer and to share any additional thoughts through the short survey below.
This project has been designed in accordance with the City of Ottawa’s Accessibility Design Standards and will include new engineered wood fiber safety surfacing.

What We Learned
Thank you to everyone who participated in the public consultation. The consultation statistics show that 456 visitors viewed the website on Engage Ottawa during the consultation period. A total of 51 engaged participants completed 52 survey submissions, with 140 total visitors to the survey page.
The survey indicated a near-even split between Concept A (24 preferences) and Concept B (26 preferences). Participants strongly expressed interest in combining the accessibility features of Concept A with the expanded swing options of Concept B. Additional themes included the potential for shade, increased seating, toddler-friendly features and preferences regarding surfacing materials.
Detailed Themes
• Accessibility: Strong support for a wheelchair-accessible ramp and inclusive play panels.
• Swings: Demand for more swing opportunities and swing types. types including infant, child, and accessible seats.
• Play Variety: Mixed requests to provide a varied range of play equipment catering to all age ranges - graduated steps or ramps instead of ladders for toddlers and monkey bars, slides, and other climbing features for older children and adolescents.
• Seating and Shade: Requests for more seating as well as the inclusion of shade.
Next Steps & Decisions
A refined concept will be prepared that integrates as many comments as feasible. This refined design will be shared on Engage Ottawa with implementation updates.
