The City of Ottawa is undertaking a comprehensive review and assessment of the heavy vehicle network in the south end of the City in response to public concerns regarding the increase in commercial vehicle activity in the area. The goal of this assessment is to review existing truck routes for safety, efficiency and community impacts, as well to explore the possibility and impacts of potential modifications to the truck network. The findings of this work will be presented to the Public Works and Infrastructure Services Committee, tentatively scheduled for 2027. The Study Area is shown below and includes the south end of the City of Ottawa, extending from Hunt Club at West Hunt Club roads in the north, Moodie Drive at Third Line Road in the west, Boundary Road in the east, and Roger Stevens Drive at Snake Island Road to the south.
What’s Included
The assessment will include a review of traffic operations, land uses and community impacts, network efficiencies and deficiencies, and public and partner consultation. As the study progresses, opportunities will be provided for residents to provide input through various formats, including public meetings and online surveys.
Get Involved!
An online survey will be available until May 19 and will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Your participation in this survey will help identify needs and opportunities within the Study area, inform future stages of the study, and contribute to the development of the recommended improvements plan. There will also be opportunities for additional engagement at each of the Public Information Consultations.

The City of Ottawa is reviewing how heavy trucks move through the south end of the city. This study will help the City understand how current truck routes affect safety, traffic flow, local businesses, villages and nearby neighbourhoods. Your feedback will help the City confirm where truck routes are working well, where changes may be needed, and what improvements should be considered.
Residents and businesses have shared concerns about truck traffic in the south end of the City, including safety for people walking, cycling, and driving; noise, vibration, and air quality; and how truck routes connect to major roads and highways. The survey will help identify locations of concern relating to truck routes within the Study Area.
