The City is looking for your feedback on the proposed plan and play equipment options for Shelleright Park, a new park in Ward 23 (Kanata South). The new 0.68 ha park is generally located east of Terry Fox Drive and north of Cope Drive.
When reviewing the proposed equipment for Shelleright Park, it is important to be aware of the equipment that already exists in the other parks nearby. The location map (available via the link on the right side of the screen) shows Shelleright Park in relation to the closest existing park, Kristina Kiss Park, which provides a splash pad, play equipment, skating rink, exercise equipment for adults, and a sports field. The new Shelleright Park will be connected to Kristina Kiss Park via a multi-use pathway.
The proposed play equipment in Shelleright Park is intended for children aged from 2 to 12 years old and includes a variety of swings, a sand play area, play structures including a looped path which can act as a ‘trike track’, and a large, grassed ‘free play’ / open space area. The park will also offer a variety of seating opportunities and a pathway system which connects to Kristina Kiss Park. Shade is being proposed by including both trees and a covered picnic table. The existing large Willow tree is proposed to be kept on site.
The park will be accessed by a neighbourhood sidewalk system and will comply with the City of Ottawa Accessibility Design Standards.
You can download and review the two proposed play equipment options for Shelleright Park, which also show the overall proposed park design and park furniture, in the Document Library on the right.
Take the survey below to provide your feedback on the proposed park design. The survey will be open until Monday, October 6.
