Upgrades to River Road are needed to better support the evolving suburban community. This can be achieved by improving mobility and connectivity. This will make it easier and safer for residents to walk, cycle, cross the road, access transit and reach nearby destinations. 

Potential improvements include new sidewalks, multi-use pathways, and cycling facilities; new intersection controls such as traffic signals or roundabouts; improved bus stops, streescaping and stormwater (drainage) infrastructure.

The functional design study will consider potential environmental impacts to vegetation, drainage patterns and nearby natural features. Efforts will be made to minimize impacts and incorporate sustainable design practices wherever possible.

Yes. The project will offer mobility choices and improve sustainable transportation by adding walking and cycling infrastructure and new crossings to access bus stops, schools and other destinations, 

The project is currently in the functional design phase, where design options and recommendations are being developed.

After the functional design study, the project will proceed to detailed design and then construction. The exact timelines for these next steps are not yet available and will be updated on the project page as they are confirmed.

Public input is an important part of the project. Residents can:
