Spring 2023 Update

The Park has been named Babe McRea Park in commemoration of a long time resident and volunteer of Richmond Village.

Weather dependent, construction is anticipated to start in May, lasting through the Summer 2023.

Through the detailed design process, minor additions have been made to the amenities that will be provided in the park. The play area will include a series of additional inclusive play amenities on a rubberized surface, as requested by members of the community. Additionally, a double zipline is expected.

The splash pad was unfortunately not accommodated due to water availability limitations.

Consultation Has Concluded

Thank you to everyone who provided their input on the playground options for the new community park in Richmond. We heard from 41 residents with an almost even split between the two options: 51 percent of residents preferring Option 1 and 49 percent preferring Option 2.

In moving forward with the detailed design, the design team will consider the preferred option while also providing variety from the playground elements found in nearby Meynell Park.

Amenities that residents requested, but that are not included within the project budget, included lawn bowling, tennis courts, a running track and adult exercise equipment.

The construction of the new park is anticipated to start in 2022. Councillor Moffatt and the community will continue to receive updates on this project.
