The City of Ottawa is happy to announce the development of a new 25 meter outdoor pool to be located adjacent the Vanier Library in Richelieu-Vanier Park at 300 des Peres Blancs Avenue in Ward 12.
This brand new facility is being made possible, in partnership with the Government of Canada and the Province of Ontario, through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.
The original project intent was to replace the existing Genest Pool, located 6 blocks away from Richelieu-Vanier Park; however preliminary geotechnical and soils testing have revealed that current conditions would require cost prohibitive measures to allow the City to replace the infrastructure in its current location.
The City reviewed potential alternate sites and determined that the Richelieu-Vanier site was the only viable location.
You are invited to download the proposed preliminary design by following the link in the "Document Library" (located on the panel to the right of the page).
Residents are encouraged to provide comments in the guestbook below during the comment period which will be open until October 20, 2025.
Councillor Plante will be hosting an informal drop-in session on October 16 at the Richelieu-Vanier Community Centre, 300 des Peres-Blancs avenue, between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Please note the changes to the existing Genest Park pool site will be discussed as a separate future project.
The new Richelieu-Vanier outdoor pool facility is expected to be operational in time for the 2027 summer season.
