Members of the Open Data Team will be presenting to Public Affairs and Policy Management students at Carleton University. This term, the students will work on a project as part of CityStudio Ottawa, which will strengthen our understanding of the needs of open data users.

Members of the Open Data Team will be presenting to Interactive Media and Design students at Algonquin College. This term, the students will complete a project as part of CityStudio Ottawa, which will produce a creative way to show how open data is helping to advance the priorities outlined in the City Strategic Plan 2023-2026.

Members of the Open Data Team will be presenting to students in the Big Data and Society course at Carleton University. This term, the students will complete a project as part of CityStudio Ottawa, which will involve creating data stories about Ottawa's 24 wards.
CityStudio Ottawa: Multidisciplenary Design, University of Ottawa
Members of the Open Data Team will be presenting to engineering students at the University of Ottawa. This term, the students will complete a project as part of CityStudio Ottawa in which the students will build a dashboard that will provide social and economic indicators about key topics.

Open Data and Climate Change
This workshop was the first in a series of planned workshops (since put on hold due to COVID-19 emergency) to provide input in the federal government's 2020-22 National Action Plan on Open Government.
This first workshop focused on Climate Change and included participation from the City of Ottawa's Open Data team.

uOttawa Design Week 101 - Faculty of Engineering
The Open Data team at the City of Ottawa served as mentors and judges for the Faculty of Engineering's Design Week 101.
The objective of the week is to engage our incoming students to in university life and provide them an opportunity to network with their peers and with various stakeholders. It is also an opportunity for them to develop skills, hear from you all and understand how engineers and computer scientists can shape the world! The week-long virtual event will be framed as 3 team challenges, with pitches/presentations at the end of each challenge.
Engineering Design Week will take place this coming week (Mon August 31st through Friday September 4th ), and will focus on five key themes:
- Global health
- COVID-19 recovery
- Justice and equality
- Sustainable cities
- Digital transformation
Presentation to Carleton's Big Data and Society Course
This course covers many topics, themes and concepts including data infrastructures, smart cities, open data, the internet of things (IoT), surveillance and sousveillance, algorithmic governance, predictive policing, the quantified self, location-based services, data collection devices, geodemographics and open data among many others. Together we examine how data shape and are shaped by actions and the social and material world.
