April 2025 update
Thank you to all those who participated and provided feedback in the survey. Over 400 people viewed the website during the survey period. Based on the responses received from the survey the park design will proceed with Option A for the play equipment and Option A for the splash/spray equipment.
In response to the comments provided I would like to reassure residents that a slide will be provided in the play equipment. A shade shelter/gazebo is also being provided for in the aprk design. The addition of paved pathway, additional/relocated benches and enhanced play equipment will be considered through detail design and provided where feasible.
Lighting, drinking fountains, and dog play areas are outside the scope and budget of the project
Construction for this park may start as soon as Fall 2025, with completion expected in 2026. Further updates will be provided here when available.
February 2025
The City is looking for your feedback on the design concept of a new park located in the Mattamy Northwoods community of Kanata North. The New Park will be generally east of March Road and north of Invention Blvd. The Park will have frontage on two future streets: Tincture Place and Leone Farrell St. and Whitlow Grass Way. The park is proposed to be named Northwood Park.
The park concept includes a basketball court, fitness equipment, play equipment and a spray/splash pad and shaded seating. It is also proposed to include pathways through a wooded area.
Two options are provided for play equipment – Option A uses predominantly timber material and a focus on obstacle course play. Option B incorporates a mix of metal, plastic and timber to provide a platform play structure.
Two more options are proposed for the spray equipment. Option A provides lots of play value with a woodland creature theme. Option B provides a simple and sleek spray experience.
You can download and review the Park Concept. Please be aware that the final park plan may differ from the concept being presented as a result of the public consultation responses, technical detailing, and material supply and/ or financial constraints. You can pick between the plays and spray equipment by completing the survey below. Additional comments can be provided to the Park Planner by completing the feedback form below. Thanks for your interest!
