April 3, 2025:
Following an extended consultation period, Option 2 has remained the preferred choice (59%) of the 22 participants who responded to the survey (13 vs. 7, with two (2) selecting neither option). The survey was available from October 22, 2024 to March 6, 2025.
In general, submissions included the following comments:
Option 2 has more usable items for more ages
Option 2 looks brighter, more colourful and more engaging for kids of all ages
Option 2 looks more natural and inclusive
Option 1 has better climbing elements and seems geared toward slightly older kids
Option 1 is pretty but lacks the fun factor for kids
Request for other amenities included monkey bars, zipline, adult fitness equipment, tennis/pickleball courts, sports field and a basketball court
Those that selected neither option indicated:
that they have been waiting for this park for 12+ years and they feel the neighbourhood demographic is now mature adults with teenagers rather than young children
that they need activities for teenagers through seniors such as basketball, tennis/pickleball courts
that the proposed pathways need to be built to connect with the Greely Loop
The additional amenities that were requested are not able to be implemented in this park due to either space and/or budget constraints. However, Parks & Facilities Planning will continue to look for opportunities to include these amenities within the extended neighbourhood.
An update regarding the construction timeline will be posted to Engage Ottawa following the tendering process.
