Consultation Results

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Crossway Terrace Park - Play Area Public Consultation.

The consultation statistics show that 231 participants were made aware meaning they visited at least one of the project pages. 117 participants were informed meaning they downloaded a document, visited multiple project pages, and /or participated in the survey. 21 participants were engaged meaning they participated in the survey.

Of those who participated in survey:

61% preferred color option A for the play structure (orange, green and turquoise),

57.6 % preferred swing Option C (with accessible chair swing)

55% preferred Option F for the sand box. (green, turquoise with orange roof)

In general, participants also provided the following requests and comments:

• Splash pad requested.

• Bigger Play Area requested.

• Add monkey bars (more climbers)

• Additional benches requested.

• Waste receptacle requested.

• More trees or shaded picnic area

The following changes to the Concept Plan will be implemented, if funding allows.

• One additional bench

• Two additional trees for shade

• Waste receptacle will be provided

The other items that were requested are not able to be implemented in this park due to budget constraints. However, Parks & Facilities Planning will continue to look for opportunities to include these amenities within the extended neighborhood.

The City is looking for your feedback on the design concept of a new play area in Crossway Terrace Park located in the Connections Community in Stittsville. The park is generally located fronting Crossway Terrace and having access from both Allied Mews and Curaglass Walk. The New Play area will be located within the circular grass area which already exists in the park.

The play area concept includes a play structure for the use of both younger children aged 18 months to 4 years and older children aged 5 to 12 years. The play area will also include a swing with two belt swing, one baby swing and one accessible swing. There will also be a Covered sand box for sand play. The area will be complete with accessible benches and pathway with accessible ramps. Six new trees will be planted on the south side of the park to provide shade to the play area. A new park sigh will also be installed.
