Bernard Grandmaître Arena Basketball Court

The Vanier community in Ward 12 is lacking in outdoor public basketball facilities. This project will introduce a new seasonal full size basketball court and 3 practice keys to the rear parking lot of the Bernard Grandmaître Arena.

The pedestrian play space will be separated from vehicular travel and parking areas by low profile concrete jersey barriers, which can also act as seating. The court posts and backboards will be removable. All court elements will be removed each fall to accommodate snow clearing and the additional winter parking needs of the arena.

Renewal of the entire parking lot is not within the scope of this project. It is under review, but not forecast within the next several years. Some asphalt maintenance was undertaken in September 2025 to prolong the lifespan of the lot.

Construction Timeline: Construction is slated to begin in 2026, but before we break ground, we would like your input.
