Equal allocation of funding

As a healthcare worker who sees many patients brought in by OPS, I believe some of their budget would be better allocated to community welfare organizations as well as crisis response teams. So much of our population is underserved and fall through the cracks of our system. They are not receiving the care and support they need to thrive and on top of that, when they are in crisis they are met with aggressive police, and more often than not, end up in the hospital because they have been injured at the hands of police who were unable to deescalate the situation. When they are in need of support they are not given it. Many have accepted that this is just the way the system works and since it does not affect them it is not their problem. But there is no reason we cannot fix this broken system. More equal allocation of funding between police, healthcare, and community support will put less stress on the system as a whole and provide better resources for everyone, regardless of class, race, gender, sexuality.
