A city to be proud of

It seems clear to me that their needs to be cuts to the amount of money that is going to OPS. Throughout my years, I've had bad and good experiences, but the few bad outweigh the good. The police respond to incidents that they aren't trained for, and too many of them contradict their own rules. I'm sick of being singled out, and having to be patient with an over aggressive officer who is hoping that I crack under the pressure so he can crack my head open on the pavement.

Im tired of hearing of ticket quotas that need to be met while, reckless drivers, robberies, and assaults are met with "there's nothing we can do" Based on the amount of money we all pay, I'd imagine theres probably always something that they can do.

The money MUST be redistributed into the community, offering housing and more than the basic minimums to help ALL of us in the community, but more importantly the ones who NEED the help. If we set everyone up well from the beginning we wouldnt need to police our community so intensely down the road.

TRAINING is another huge issue, the amount of totally off the rail officers that Ive dealt with in my many years in ottawa is insane. Many of them off duty who feel the need to flex their badges and power. It's disgusting, that we let such weak minded and mean spirited people hold a position of power.

It's time Ottawa becomes a progressive city, where we all feel safe, and community wellness programs are given more thought, and funding than the Ottawa Bully Service.

There needs to be a reform on WHO gets the privilege of genuinely protecting and serving our city-
and there needs to be a massive shift of funding to other areas of city spending. Also just from looking at who the team is in charge of this, maybe some more diverse options, I trust the current team are good people, but the experience of those in our low income housing communities would be a welcome addition in my opinion.

I hope that ottawa can become a progressive city that sets the example for other cities not just in Canada but globally.
