About the project
Share About the project on Facebook Share About the project on Twitter Share About the project on Linkedin Email About the project linkThis project invites youth to share their ideas, experiences, creativity, and cultural insights to help shape programs, services, and opportunities for young people in Ottawa.
The project is part of the City’s Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) Plan and supports the Youth Social Development Priority, which aims to:
- Invest in youth outcomes to ensure equitable, positive development
- Increase youth engagement in programs and policy creation
These events are developed, created, and facilitated by youth leaders across the city, cohosted by Kaafi Consulting. The project is guided by the Youth Forum Steering Committee, a coalition of community organizations committed to supporting Ottawa youth with dignity, respect, and strengths-based approaches, including:
- Ottawa Coalition of Community Houses
- Centre for Resilience and Social Development
- Community Development Framework
- Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa (BGCO)
- Social Planning Council of Ottawa
Guiding principles
- Respect – Respect every voice as important. Seek consent. Be attentive.
- Strength-based – View youth as talented, innovative and leaders.
- Community-centred – Ground the process in familiar, trusted and culturally safe spaces.
