Background

The City of Ottawa is undertaking rehabilitation and improvement work on the Wilson-Cowan Municipal Drain between Mud Creek and Carsonby Road. The project is being completed in accordance with Ontario's Drainage Act to restore and improve the function of the existing municipal drain.

The rehabilitation will improve the drain's ability to convey stormwater by restoring a consistent slope along the watercourse and increasing its drainage capacity. These improvements will help the drain more effectively manage runoff from the surrounding area, reduce the risk of localized flooding and long-term ponding, and support the long-term performance of the drainage system as the community continues to develop.

Project Information

Construction is anticipated to begin in late July 2026 and continue through the summer and fall, with all construction and restoration activities expected to be complete by Fall 2026.

Work will take place along the Wilson-Cowan Municipal Drain corridor between Mud Creek and Carsonby Road. Construction is expected to begin at Mud Creek and progress toward Carsonby Road in the following phases:

• Section 1: Mud Creek to Bankfield Road
• Section 2: Bankfield Road to Potter Drive
• Section 3: Potter Drive to Century Road
• Section 4: Century Road to Carsonby Road

The work includes rehabilitation and improvements to the municipal drain to enhance stormwater conveyance and the long-term function of the drainage system.

The project is being completed by Goldie Mohr Ltd. on behalf of the City of Ottawa in accordance with Ontario's Drainage Act.
