Final Recommendations

Based on the review of traffic data, coordination with various stakeholders, public feedback and other project constraints, City staff are recommending to proceed with the the Final Recommended Plan for West Ridge Drive, including:

• Six sets of speed cushions.
• Upgrade the existing pedestrian crossover (PXO type D) near Delamere Drive to a raised PXO with a bulb-out on one side.
• One raised pedestrian crossover (PXO type D) with a bulb-out on one side. The PXO is proposed at the desired line of path of Alfred McCoy Park.
• Upgrade of the southern leg of West Ridge Drive at Abbott Street west to a raised crosswalk. This also includes the renewal of the existing pedestrian landing pads (SE and SW corners) to meet current accessibility standards.
• Addition of the missing sidewalk link on the west side of West Ridge Drive, between Alfred McCoy Park and Sable Run Drive.
• Continuous painted reserved cycling lanes from Beverly Street to Stittsville Main Street, delineated with pavement markings and roadside regulatory signage. This also includes the replacement of the existing bulb-out on the NE corner of the Ballyhaise Street intersection, with a cycle-friendly ride-over bulb-out.
