Consultation Results

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Watercolours Park public consultation.

The consultation statistics show that 449 participants looked at the project website, and of those, 39 individuals provided responses to the survey that was posted. Two options were provided for the play and splash pad equipment: an ‘Outer Space’ theme and a ‘Nature’ theme. 25 of the 39 participants (64%) preferred the ‘Open Space’ theme in a blue/red/grey/silver colour scheme.

In general, participants also provided the following requests and comments:

  • More interactive/interesting play equipment
  • More play opportunities for young children
  • More play/climbing opportunities for older children
  • Rubber play area surfacing
  • Larger splash pad / a water structure / additional spray elements
  • Additional fitness equipment items
  • Fitness equipment area to be closer to the children’s play area
  • Additional shade (additional umbrella tables, add a shade structure, more trees)
  • Additional benches/seating
  • Additional waste receptacles
  • Add volleyball/beach volleyball
  • Add basketball
  • Add tennis
  • Add outdoor learning area
  • Add winter amenities
  • Additional walkway/loop around the park
  • Create pathways through the existing City-owned forest to the south
  • Provide amenities for adults and older adults
  • Add parking
  • Add washroom facilities

The Consultant has been able to address several of the requests and comments. The following changes to the Concept Plan will be implemented, unless any currently unforeseen circumstances arise:

  • To relocate the fitness equipment area closer to the play equipment
  • To add more benches
  • To explore the option of providing an additional shade canopy to the playground structure.

The other items that were proposed are not able to be implemented in this park due to either space and/or budget constraints. However, Parks & Facilities Planning will continue to look for opportunities to include these amenities within the extended neighbourhood.

Consultation

The City is looking for your feedback on the design of Watercolours Park, a new park development. The 2.1 hectare park will be located in a new residential development in the Half Moon Bay West community (Ward 3). The park block is not yet addressed; however, the general location address is 3900 Cambrian Road.

You can download and review the Watercolours Park Concept Plan in the ‘Document Library’ (located to the right) which shows the proposed design and more information on the proposed park amenities. Please be aware that the final park plan may differ from the concept being presented as a result of the public consultation responses, technical detailing, and supply and/or financial constraints.

Take the survey below to share your feedback. The survey will be open until Wednesday, August 3rd and can only be taken once per account.
