Consultation has concluded

What we heard

Thank you to everyone who responded to our survey about Veterans’ Park. More than 300 people visited the website and 19 completed the survey.

Park Amenities

Respondents ranked 11 park amenities. The top four amenities were benches, a splash pad, a play structure and a picnic shelter. Other amenities mentioned included an off-leash dog area, a basketball court, a skating rink, a wading pool and a public bulletin board. Respondents noted that the park should be fully accessible.

The preferred garden type was a community garden. Respondents suggested adding a wading or lap pool, mature trees, shade, more veteran-themed elements, permeable surfaces, free Wi-Fi and pay phones.

Playground

The preferred play area was option two, with suggested play amenities including a climbing wall and an aviation themed structure. The preferred splash pad was option one with a towel rack and ground-level maze.

Next steps

The consultant will create the final design based on feedback from the survey. A pool, skating rink and basketball court are not feasible in a park of this size, however there will be sports amenities in the nearby Eugene Martineau Park.

Veterans' Park is a 0.42 hectare park located at the intersection of Hemlock Road and Moses Tennisco Street.

A location map and complete plans are found in the document library to the right.
