Launch of the New Tree Dedication Program

On January 16, 2025, the City of Ottawa launched the new Tree Dedication Program. The program was approved by Council in June 2024 and replaces the former Commemorative Tree Program. There are now two categories of dedications available: Personal Dedications and Community Dedications. Eligibility for the dedications has also been broadened to include other milestones, events, and accomplishments.

In addition to the expanded eligibility, residents will be able to select tree planting sites from pre-determined locations in various city parks. Trees dedicated under the new program will be tagged and recognized on the new mapping tool. Dedicated trees will be planted in the spring (May-June), or the fall (October-November).
