Consultation has concluded
Construction Update - August 14, 2020
The park project is now well under way. The detailed drawings have been completed; bids for the construction of the project have been submitted; and a contractor has been selected. Construction is expected to begin at the end of August, and is anticipated to take approximately 10 weeks, (pending any unforeseen weather, manufacturing and/or other construction delays).
Thank you for your valued recommendations and community support for this project.
Consultation Results
Thank you to everyone who provided input for the new play equipment at Sugar Creek Park. We heard from 22 residents and more than 80 percent of you preferred option B, for the following reasons:
Variety of play panels
Additional spring toy
Inclusion of a spinner
Comments also included requests for a basketball court within the park, but that is, unfortunately, not possible within the scope of this project. If you’re interested in a basketball court, you can find one nearby, at Crossing Bridge Park.
Thank you for participating in the survey!
Playground Replacement
The City needs your help to choose a replacement for the Sugar Creek Park combined junior and senior playground equipment for children between the ages of 1.5 to 12 years old. Sugar Creek Park is located at 13 Basford Crescent in Stittsville. Updates to the playground will include:
Engineered wood fiber for the protective surfacing material to meet accessibility requirements
An accessible pathway to the swing area
An accessible swing seat to replace one of the baby bucket swings
A teeter totter
Overhead climbers
You can help by choosing your preferred playground replacement below, either option A or option B. You can see the proposed layout and design in the document library located on the right side of the page.
