Waste Management Technologies Feasibility Study

As part of a Council motion in December 2023, staff have been working towards understanding residual waste options for Ottawa. In June 2024, Council approved the Waste Management Technologies Feasibility Study report. This project assessed a range of new and emerging technologies in the Ottawa context, analyzing their social, environmental, and financial implications. RFP Feasibility Study for Waste to Energy and Mixed Waste Processing


The results of this project will help inform the City’s decision on the most sustainable long-term approach to managing residual garbage and staff anticipate bringing forward a recommendation early in 2027.
