The intersection of Russell Road and Leitrim Road is an unsignalized rural skewed intersection with stop control on the Leitrim Road approach (eastbound) and Russell Road extension approach (northbound). The intersection was recommended for geometric modification to improve overall safety based on the 2020 Safety Study of Ottawa Rural Skewed Intersections. The intersection is ranked #3 (high priority) on the City of Ottawa priority list for rural skewed intersections. The City of Ottawa has initiated this Functional Design Study to evaluate design options for safety improvements at the intersection. Both T-intersection and roundabout options are being considered.
