Council approves changes to Residential Protective Plumbing program!

On February 26, 2025, City Council approved a new updated Residential Protective Plumbing By-law (2025-89).

The updates will streamline the rebate application process, increase the number of items available for rebate, and increase rebate amounts.

At a high level, changes to the by-law include: 

  • Removing the requirement for a closed-circuit television inspection (CCTV) and report
  • Removing the external consultant’s review for proposed scope of work
  • Replacing Part 1 and Application Part 2 with a single application
  • Introducing new rebate opportunities
  • Eliminating of the requirement for current property taxes
