Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey.
A large majority of respondents (seven out of eight) indicated being against the addition of fitness equipment at St. Paul’s Park. When asked to explain the reasons against, the seven respondents indicated they would prefer a dog park. It should be mentioned that three of them reside outside of Ward 13.
The one respondent in favour indicated that the second design option was the preferred type of fitness equipment.
Next steps
The Parks and Facilities Planning Department does not recommend adding an enclosed dog park at St. Paul's Park for the following reasons: it would result in removing the general open field located south of the playground and the outdoor rink, and due to potential noise impacting nearby residential properties.
The Parks and Facilities Planning Department along with Councillor King’s office will explore the potential of a dog park in the Overbrook community.
Councillor King's office spoke with residents in the community outside of the survey process who are supportive of the addition of fitness equipment at St. Paul's Park. Councillor King's office has heard interest expressed by residents in modernizing Ward 13 parks, which would include fitness equipment in locations across the ward.
Sondage
St. Paul’s Park is located in Rideau-Rockcliffe Ward (13) and fronts onto Moorvale Street to the north and Donald Street to the south.
Councillor King’s Office along with the City of Ottawa’s Recreational, Cultural and Facility Planning Department would like to get your thoughts on the potential addition of fitness equipment at St. Paul’s Park.
The proposed location for the fitness equipment would be on the southern portion of the park, more specifically to the west side of the multi-use pathway, south of the ice rink as shown below:
The below two types of equipment are being contemplated:
Option 1
Option 2
