The City of Ottawa is seeking input on the proposed replacement of the two tennis courts for 4-6 exclusively pickleball courts in the north area of Pierre Rocque Park, located at 257 Joseph Drouin Avenue.

In September 2023, the Orleans Tennis Club were approved for funding from the community partnership minor capital program to convert the north tennis courts in Pierre-Rocque Park to exclusively pickleball. Proposing to convert the two existing tennis courts to 4-6 pickleball courts; repairing cracks on the court surface, new acrylic paint, adding pickleball lines, pickleball nets, repairs to the fencing, and a second court access door.

The current tennis courts are public access, which are available on a first-come, first served basis and players are encouraged to limit game times to 30 minutes.

Upon completion the Orleans Tennis Club would offer members private court reservations and sports programming (e.g. drop-in play, skill-based leagues, special events, and clinics). As a not-for-profit Club, member fees are modestly priced to cover operating expenses (e.g. court maintenance, equipment, and online court reservation system fees).

The public consultation for the Pierre Rocque Park pickleball will be open for comments until September 24th. Following the consultation period a summary of the comments received will be posted back to engage Ottawa.
