The sun is setting on the inaugural Nightlife Economy Action Plan (2023-2026), and plans are well underway to create an update for 2027.

The Nightlife Office 2025 Annual Report, identified a need for up-to-date, evidence-based information about Ottawa’s nightlife activity. This includes data about the work, services, and socio-economic impact of the nightlife economy, but also feedback from the people who work at night.

Night shift workers, business owners and operators, and nightlife enjoyers alike are encouraged to complete the City of Ottawa Nightlife Office’s 2026 survey. Fifteen minutes of your time will help the Nightlife Office better understand the economic role and working conditions of night shift workers, and identify barriers, gaps and opportunities influencing Ottawa's nighttime economy.

This survey is for you if you:

  • Work at night in a venue, restaurant, theatre or bar;
  • Work at night outside the hospitality industry, as a nurse, a taxi/transit driver, construction worker, custodian, etc.;
  • Own or manage a business or organization involved in any of the above at night.
  • Go out at night to clubs, restaurants, theatres and events at night.

The findings from this survey will inform the Nightlife Office’s future initiatives and policies related to the next Nighttime Strategy to be presented to City Council in 2027.

The survey is open now until June 22, 2026. All responses will remain confidential.
