Consultation has concluded

What We Heard

Thank you for your contribution and comments on the concept option plans for Morgan’s Grant Dog Park. The online survey was posted August 14 – September 14, 2023, with Option B coming out on top as the preferred option with votes 91 – 62.

A summary of public comments is provided below:

  • enhanced quality of life for dogs and people providing opportunity for dogs to run and play and promote community social interaction
  • increased population and small backyards have created more need for a dog park
  • Option B has better street parking and a safer location as it is further from the bus stop and busy street, Klondike Road
  • Option B is larger and more suitable for dogs to run
  • Option B is preferred with fewer homes fronting on to the park
  • Option B is preferred as Option A has a recently installed pollinator garden
  • shade is important
  • wild parsnip is an issue in the hydro corridor and will be removed as required
  • community and pollinator gardens will be considered during design
  • noise concerns will be addressed with signage and park by-law enforcement
  • parking and traffic concerns will be monitored, and parking area may be considered in a future phase
  • waste removal amenities will be installed and maintained as per city standards
  • lighting is not included in the scope of work
  • water fountain is not included in the scope of work
  • separating large and small dogs is not feasible due to park size

Overview

The City is looking for your feedback to develop an off-leash dog park in Morgan’s Grant hydro corridor in Kanata North, Ward 4 between 1292 and 1300 Kondlike Road.

The proposed park amenities include fencing, double gate access and egress, maintenance gate, waste receptacle, signage and seating.

The preferred Option B will now go to the detailed design stage, with construction anticipated in 2024. Councillor Curry will continue to receive updates on this project. Thank you for participating in the survey!
