Family Adventure, Childhood Freedom

My kids get very excited about visiting the library. Even before they could read independently, library books were little gifts that they could choose, each one full of some surprise to be enjoyed later. Children don't always get to explore or be in charge, but at the library nothing is off limits -- if you can carry it out the door, it's yours. During the pandemic, we were very sad that the doors were closed, but even then we bought an e-reader and had a new door open up when so many were shut. Life is busy, and I read fewer books than I did when I was a kid, but I, too, sometimes enjoy the luxury of a novel or get help in pursuing a project at the library. As much as I love my family and career, there is little sweeter than putting it all on hold and curling up with a book.
