The Commemorative Naming Policy for Municipal Streets, Parks and Facilities was initially approved by Ottawa City Council in July 2002. On February 8, 2023, Ottawa City Council passed a motion to pause the Commemorative Naming Program to conduct a comprehensive review of its policies, aligning them with the new overarching Municipal Commemoration Policy(External link).
