How the Review was conducted
The legislated review of the Community Safety and Well Being Plan used an evidence-informed approach to assess whether the Plan’s priorities remain relevant and to identify emerging community needs. The review drew on community feedback, data and analysis to ensure the updated Plan reflects lived and living experience.
Resources and analysis used to inform the Review
Population Survey (January 2025):
- Telephone survey of more than 1,000 Ottawa residents to understand perceptions of quality of life and priority community needs.
- Population Survey Findings (Appendix A)
Thematic Analysis of Feedback:
- Consolidated input from past City consultations, deputations, and 12 community reports to identify community defined priorities, solutions, and barriers.
- Thematic Analysis (Appendix B)
Targeted engagement sessions and an online survey:
- Insights from residents and community partners through focused engagement sessions and an online survey, grounding the review in lived experience and community priorities.
- What We Learned Report (Appendix C)
Interdependency Analysis:
- Assessment of how the CSWB Plan aligns with other Council approved strategies, identifying connections, reducing duplication, and strengthening systems thinking across the City’s work.
