The intersection of Constance Bay Road and Dunrobin Road was included in the City’s Safety Study of Ottawa Rural Skewed Intersections in 2020. The intersection ranked #1 out of 22 locations in terms of relative safety risk and priority for potential remedial action due to the collision history, steep road grade, poor sightlines, and atypical traffic control. The intersection is identified as part of the Road Safety Action Plan (RSAP) for geometric modifications to improve overall safety of the intersection for all road users.

The City of Ottawa is undertaking a Class environmental assessment (EA) under the Environmental Assessment Act for the modification of the Constance Bay Road and Dunrobin Road intersection. The EA process involves developing, assessing and evaluating alternatives, leading to a Recommended Plan including a conceptual design and estimated costs for implementation.

Public consultation is a key component throughout the Class EA process. The purpose of this engagement is to:

  • Identify potential negative impacts of the concept design options
  • Identify opportunities to improve the concept design options
  • Gather feedback on the concept design options and the preferred option
