Cobble Hill Park
Consultation has concluded
The Consultation Period has ended.
Construction Update: 03 May 2022
Please be aware that construction has restarted on the Cobble Hill Park project.
It should be noted that as of May 3rd, for safety reasons and to allow for construction activities to occur, the swings will not be available for public use. The play structure will remain open through this next weekend but will also be closed as of May 10th.
If construction and material supply deliveries progress as expected, and the weather doesn’t pose significant delays, most of the park amenities should be available for public use by the end of the summer. Grassed areas will not be available until they are significantly established.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as the project unfolds.
Construction Update: 06 January 2022
Park construction is anticipated to begin by the end of this week. The construction activities are expected to be active until mid-to-late January and then pause again until conditions are favourable in the spring. The current plan is to allow for safe access to the existing park while work commences on the southern portion of the park. Please note that as work progresses over the upcoming months, public access to the park will need to be temporarily removed for safety reasons and to allow for construction activities.
If construction and material supplies progress as expected, the majority of the park amenities should be available for public use during the summer (2022). Grassed areas will not be available for use until they are significantly established.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the applicable City staff member as listed under the “Who’s Listening” heading on the right.
Moving Forward: March 2021
As a follow-up to the previous consultation update and the subsequent separate Cobble Hill Park-Dog Park public consultation, the City will not be including a dog park in the up-coming park construction project. The request for a dog park in the community has been noted and will be considered further either in Cobble Hill Park, or another location at a later date. Public consultation for the future dog park will be sought when the project is initiated (date to be determined).
Consultation Update: January 2021
Thank you for providing feedback on the Cobble Hill Park proposed design. Based on the results of the public consultation, this is what the City will be proceeding with:
- Play Equipment - the City will proceed with the play equipment as proposed in the Concept drawing.
- Splash Pad - the City will proceed with the splash pad as proposed in the Concept drawing.
- Basketball - the City will proceed with developing a separate half-court basketball amenity. If costs allow, the basketball court may be expanded to a full, two-sided court.
- Dog Park - the City will be looking for clarification of the public response to locating a fenced in dog park facility in Cobble Hill Park. Within the next couple of weeks, another Engage Ottawa public engagement will be set up which focuses specifically on this question (https://engage.ottawa.ca/cobble-hill-dog-park). A final decision on the dog park will be made at that time.
Please note that all of the above decisions are contingent upon construction pricing coming in as anticipated. The public should be aware that there may further revisions to the plan, if necessary.
The City is looking for your feedback on the expansion and redesign of Cobble Hill Park in Ward 3, Barrhaven. The 2.27 hectare Cobble Hill Park is located at 200 Cobble Hill Drive.
