Climate Change and Resiliency’s Department-led Working Group

The City of Ottawa is bringing together key organizations to better coordinate climate action across the community. The network is guided by the priorities in the City’s Climate Change Master Plan and the commitments made in its recent audit response report.

What this group does

  • Identifies new opportunities for partnership across organizations to support shared climate priorities

  • Aligns efforts to reduce duplication and increase high-impact collaboration

Purpose

This group helps coordinate community-wide climate action by:

  • Focusing on high-impact opportunities

  • Strengthening collaboration across sectors

  • Supporting projects aligned with the Climate Change Master Plan

This work helps ensure that local action contributes to long term climate solutionsboth in reducing emissions (mitigation) and preparing for climate impacts (adaptation).

This working group focuses on improving how climate action is coordinated across Ottawa.

It brings together City staff and external partners to align efforts in three priority areas:

  • Mitigationreducing our environmental impact through community greenhouse gas emissions reductions across sectors

  • Community partnerships – strengthening collaboration, coordination, and access across programs and organizations

The group does not deliver programs directly. Instead, it helps identify shared priorities, clarify roles, and support coordinated action, especially in areas where the City cannot act alone.
