Closed consultation.
Year End 2020 - Project Update
Thank you to everyone who responded to the public engagement opportunity about a proposed off-leash dog park and other park improvements within Beryl Gaffney Park. During the consultation period, there was extensive discussion and debate surrounding the fenced, off-leash dog park component of the plan, as well as the costs related to the acquisition of the new parcel of land that was intended for the dog park.
As a result of this feedback and discussions with local councillors and community members, the fenced, off-leash dog component of the proposed park upgrades has been removed from the plan and the funds for the acquisition of the new land parcel were returned to the Beryl Gaffney park account. Please see the What We Heard document that provides a summary of the feedback received that relate to the proposed picnic area park improvements. It has been posted in the document library along the right side of the webpage.
There continues to be interest in making improvements to Beryl Gaffney Park though no decisions around specific projects have been made at this time. Staff will report back in the new year with an update on the status of proposed improvements in the park, ensuring ample time and opportunities for public notice and feedback.
