Armstrong Park Expansion

The City of Ottawa is seeking your input regarding the design of the expansion of Armstrong Park. This park is located at 69 Armstrong Street and includes newly acquired lands at 22 and 24 Ladouceur Street, directly behind the existing park.

Two conceptual plans have been developed for community input. Both conceptual plans include:

  • An accessible pathway connecting Armstrong Street to Ladouceur Street
  • Retention of 3 existing trees on site
  • Removal of 3 trees which have been evaluated to be in poor health and pose a safety risk
  • New tree plantings and site greening
  • Community Planting Areas

Option 1 – Quilt Concept
Inspired by the tapestry of the community, this concept quilts together a blend of play, seating and greening. In addition to the components highlighted above, this concept includes:

  1. Playful seating
  2. A new playground and disc swing
  3. Sand play with raised pay area

Option 2 – Green Oasis Concept
Inspired by the desire for a green escape in the city, this concept integrates seating and play within greenery. In addition to the components highlighted above, this concept includes

  1. Decorative gateway features
  2. Retention of the existing playground
  3. New forest themed climbing feature
  4. New balance beam through trees

You can download and review the concept plan which include “Option 1" and "Option 2" using the link provided to the right. These options showcase the proposed designs along with additional information about the planned amenities for the park.
