Public Engagement Protocol

The City uses the Public Engagement Protocol to determine when public engagement is appropriate and how you can participate. Elements such as community impact, legislative requirements, timelines, available resources, and opportunities for public influence are considered, along with other project-specific considerations.

In some cases, public engagement may not be appropriate. For example, during emergencies or situations involving immediate health and safety risks, the City may need to act quickly to protect residents and respond to urgent needs.

This approach helps ensure public engagement opportunities are meaningful, consistent, and aligned with the needs of each project.
