With the purchase of the property at 1754 St. Joseph, a large amount of greenspace has become available for public use. A significant area southeast of the existing building has been devoted to reforestation efforts and the remainder is proposed to be used for a 9-hole disc golf course, which is the focus of this project.
The course will begin southeast of the existing parking lot and accounts for a potential future parking lot expansion. Hole 1 extends southeast towards the southern boundary of the site. Holes 2 and 3 extend eastward to the reforestation area. Hole 4 leads north and begins the zigzag back to the start of the course, which holes 5 to 9 complete.
Additional tree plantings will divide the holes, define the fairways and protect site users.
Please note that the final course layout may differ from the presented concept. Public consultation responses, technical detailing, supply availability and financial constraints are some of the factors that may influence a change.
We kindly invite you to complete the survey below to share your insights and preferences. Your feedback is important in shaping the future of this new course.

What residents like about the new disc golf course:
Free and accessible recreation, suitable for many ages and abilities.
Good use of preserved greenspace, maintaining a mix of field and forest.
Location benefits for Orleans and Blackburn residents.
Opportunity to grow the sport within the city.

Thoughts residents had on the overall design:
Engage experienced disc golfers in final placement of tees and baskets.
Limited shot variety across the course.
Safety concerns around hole layout, spacing, and flow
Requests for amenities such as bins, bike racks, washrooms, and seating.
Add buffering trees between course and residences. Relocate holes to protect privacy and prevent discs entering yards along the south property line.
Next Steps & Decisions:
The engagement phase is now archived, and project decisions are being finalized using the collected feedback:
Reviewing options for relocating and realigning holes.
Consulting Ottawa Disc Golf Club and other Stakeholders during design refinement.
Evaluating vegetation buffers near residential properties.
Reviewing pedestrian access and environmental protection measures.
Participants can expect future updates through the Engage Ottawa project page as the lookout progresses into subsequent planning and construction stages.
