How often do we have the chance to contribute to a once-in-a-generation project?

Welcome to the online engagement program in support of the design of the Ottawa Public Library-Library and Archives Canada Joint Facility. In this fourth and final Inspire555 online activity, we are looking for your inspiration into the facility’s iconic features and finishing touches.

Add your voice to the thousands who so far have inspired the project architects as they set out to design an iconic building that is sure to become a future landmark destination in the Nation’s capital.

We want your thoughts on:

  • The architectural inspiration (or theme) for the facility’s design.

  • How this theme informs the choice of materials inside and outside the building.

  • How the facility can become an inclusive destination for all.

The questionnaire takes about 10-15 minutes to complete. If you have already registered, you can start now. If not, registration is quick and your personal information will not be shared.

The closing date for this Questionnaire is December 10, 2019. Please invite your colleagues, friends and family members to participate.

The architects have three initial concepts for how the facility might sit on the site - what architects call "3D massing models."

The concepts are not intended to be actual designs or renderings of what the building will look like.

Rather, it’s the starting point for how and where the future building might sit on the site given what we know of the building's square footage, what goes inside it and how all the pieces relate to each other.

Each concept approaches these challenges in a different way.

Now, let’s look at each concept one at a time:
