Monticello Park: New Park Development
Construction Update: 12 November 2025
Please be aware that the construction of the park has not been completed and the park is not safe for residents to use. This park is closed for public access and will remain closed until further notice.
Although some park construction may still continue for the next few weeks, depending on the weather, there are items that will need to be completed in the spring (2026).
For example:
- The park equipment has been installed. However, the safety surfacing has not been installed; the equipment is not safe to use at this time.
Important:
The metal construction fencing surrounding the new park area must remain in place with no gaps created. Residents are kindly requested to not enter the area inside the fencing and to report, to either the Councillor’s office or Jeannette Krabicka (contact link is shown to the right), any gaps in the fence or fallen fence panels.
Public Consultation: 26 July - 12 August, 2024
The City is looking for your feedback on the proposed plan and play equipment for Monticello Park, a new park in Ward 23 (Kanata South). The new 0.5 hectare park is generally located west of Eagleson Road, north of Terry Fox Drive, and south of Fernbank Road.
When reviewing the proposed equipment for Monticello Park, it is important to be aware of the equipment that already exists in the other parks nearby. The location map (available via link on the right side of the screen) shows the Monticello Park in relation to the closest existing park, Proudmore-Romina Park which provides traditional play equipment for children ranging in age from 2 – 12 years old, a basketball court, a shade shelter, and a small sports field which also provides room for ‘free play’.
To help increase the diversity of equipment in the local parks, the play equipment being proposed for Monticello Park includes more climbing and challenge-focused play structures, several types of swings, sand play, and open ‘free play’ areas. Shade is being proposed by including both tree plantings and an umbrella table.
The park will be accessed by a neighbourhood sidewalk system and will comply with the City of Ottawa Accessibility Design Standards.
You can download and review the Monticello Park concept plan (which shows the overall proposed park design) and the proposed play equipment and park furniture in the Document Library on the right.
Take the survey below to provide your feedback. The survey will be open until Monday, August 12.
